DREAMWORLD CASE STUDY
Dreamworld Case Study

Dreamworld is Australia’s ultimate entertainment precinct, located on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Home to the Big 6 Thrills Rides (The Claw, pictured right), Nickelodeon Central, Wiggles World, Tiger Island, The Australian Wildlife Experience, Big Brother and FlowRider, Dreamworld really does offer ‘so many worlds in one’.

The theme park first opened its doors to the Australian public in 1981. Today, 1.5 million people visit the precinct every year to enjoy the thrills and spills of the rides, entertainment and the wildlife of the fascinating Tiger Island and Australian Wildlife Experience.

If you visit Dreamworld, you’re probably going to indulge in some of the tasty hot foods available for purchase from any of the outlets around the area. When Dreamworld needed a packaging supplier to provide a range that met their needs, they looked to Detpak. The packaging suite that Detpak developed for the theme park included printed cold cups, napkins, food trays, hotdog trays and wraps. For Catering Manager, Andrew Charlton, Detpak became vital packaging partners. “We chose Detpak because of their great customer service and follow up, for their wide range of products, which accommodated our products, and for their reputation and quality”.

“They also helped us with research and development on cold cup designs as they knew the market”. For Dreamworld, a branded packaging solution meant they could co-promote Whitewater World to Dreamworld, visitors, ensuring they were exposed to their sister theme park. Dual branding also meant that they could cleverly use the same products in their back of house preparations, eliminating the need for several designs.

Today, the bright and colourful graphics of the Dreamworld range reflects the fun and excitement that the theme park brings to several hundred thousands of visitors every year.
