Another critical aspect of the project was ensuring that each bag could be accurately tared at checkout. With multiple bag sizes in play, consistency in weight was essential for staff to process transactions quickly and confidently.
Launching new artwork and new bags simultaneously, The Source Bulk Foods partnered with Detpak to ensure the rollout was not only visually cohesive but also operationally seamless. The challenge here was delivering a bag solution that met strict environmental standards, simplified tare accuracy at checkout, and removed unnecessary plastic from the supply chain.

Over six months, Detpak and The Source Bulk Foods worked in close partnership to develop a packaging solution that met every sustainability and operational requirement. The brief was clear: bags made from 100% recycled content, FSC chain of custody certified, and free from plastic inner linings and strapping, all without compromosing usability in-store.
Detpak provided samples of six bag types, each rigorously tested to confirm tare accuracy. Every batch delivered was assigned a specific tare number, printed directly on the bag, allowing staff to quickly identify the correct weight to subtract during checkout. This not only improved efficiency, eliminated guesswork, and provided a seamless experience for their customers.
